So how much does a Wedding really cost? Well there is no right or wrong answer, in fact it can be as much or as little as you can afford. Cost will factor in the type of Wedding you have, be it Church, Civil Ceremony or Registry Office.

Prince and I had a Registry Office Wedding back in July 2001, and then we did not have masses of money to spend on it. Below I have made a list of what we had and how much it cost:

Wedding Dress/veil/Tiara 15
Cake 3.99
Cars FREE
Reception Hall FREE – gave donation
Fee’s 32.50
Food/Drink 130
Men’s Outfits 100
Honeymoon NONE
Flowers 80
Hair/Makeup myself
Photo FREE
Video FREE
Wedding Camera’s NONE
Table Favours NONE
Bridesmaid’s Dress 4.99
Engagement Ring NONE
Wedding Rings 50
Gifts B’Maid/Ushers etc 27
Stationary/Postage 9.49
Bridesmaid Tiara None
Shoes/Shoe Dye 5.49

Underwear 15
Corkage Fees 10
Sundry Items for Cake 6.49
Cake Boxes 6.49
Underskirt Materials 10

TOTAL 521.44

I hope this gives you a starter, and I hope shortly to have the time to expand on the above list with idea's on places to look for items, and how you can start saving for the day you dream of.

I have been discussing my wedding with my parents today and find the money side of the wedding quite scarey, especially when you see sample budget lists in wedding magazines that give estimated costs at 17k!!!

I'm glad I'm not alone, I want my wedding to be special but at the same time, I dont want my bank manager to have a heart attack! lol:)

I have to say. that the cost of Weddings can be very scarey indeed, but we must not let it overshadow the whole point of the day, and that is you and your partner declaring your love and commitment to each other for the rest of your life. Don't feel you have to spend a certain amount, just because someone says they have a certain item, nothing is required, well except you and your H2B being there.

I'm sure we all have tips on how to save money, so lets share them - start a new topic, Money Saving Tip - what you save money on.

It will help many brides I am sure.
