Hi Sarah,

You will find many of the supermarkets such as Tesco, M & S, Sainsburys etc do Iced rich fruit cakes and Madeira Sponge cakes in various sizes that can be assembled into a traditional Wedding cake, some I believe start as low as £5.99.

Alternatively you could make it yourself, or find a family member or friend/s that might be willing to help out - perhaps you might find 2 or 3 who might like to make a layer each, as a Wedding Present for you. If they just marzipan and plain ice it, you can then decorate it to your own theme.

My mother in law made ours. But the local shop that she hired the cake tins from also made cakes that you could then ice yourself. Or failing that they made a kind of mixture that you could then add water to (i think) and then make yourself. They also had a kind of packet mix for the icing.

So I would say check out the local cake shops, this was one that did the bits that go on cakes if you see what I mean. Where are you based? I could try and find you the address of this one if you wanted it. It was in Warwickshire somewhere. Although I have to admit that I didn't have a lot to do with the cake.

I hope that helps
Melanie

Hi Sarah , we have just added a new link to our little collection.
http://www.haveyourcakeandeatit.org (http://www.cinderellas-wedding.co.uk/forum/local_links.php?action=jump&id=79) , Im not saying buy their cakes.

However they do offer some templates & have a guide on how to make - what looks like a really nice cake.

Chris
