Here are some wedding budget tips that you may want to consider:
1. Apply the laws of supply and demand. The prices goes up during wedding peak season which is usually around the last 2 quarters of the year. All wedding professionals are usually fully booked and they're fee is higher than the usual. Schedule the wedding between January-March. You may want to avoid the Valentine's day or other occassions that bring the prices of flowers higher.
2. Go for morning reception. The biggest part of the wedding budget usually goes to the food. Serving the guest with breakfast or brunch is a lot cheaper than serving them dinner. Also, there is no need to serve wine or other alcoholic drinks in the morning which can also be expensive.
3. Find a free or low-cost location. Get married somewhere that doesn't charge much. Your lawn or your rich friend's lawn can be a great venue especially during the summer.
4. Shop for the wedding gown wisely. Budget-conscious couples need not to go to designer boutiques to get the best wedding gown in town. Some of the great gowns can be found online and they are surprisingly cheap. Also, you can also look for pre-owned designer gowns that are usually being sold for half the price.
5. Ask friends and family for help. A creative friend or cousin can do your wedding invitations or give-aways without spending too much. Make use of their skills and just pay for the materials they'll be using. I am sure that they will be more than happy to help make your big day a special one.
6. Limit your guests. This can be easier said than done since all of your friends, acquaintances, co-workers, family members, relatives, etc. are expecting to get invited. Be sure to make everybody understand that you are planning on a strict budget. You may also tell them that it's a very intimate wedding and they would surely understand.
